The great, respected baseball players of the 1970s and 80s

It is our belief that this time of baseball was the last era where steroids were not prevalent in the Major Leagues.  Players such as Mike Schmidt, Eddie Murray, George Brett, and Dave Winfield dominated this era with their hitting excellence and honorable character.

Baseball stats in the 1970s / 80s

Statistics during this era, overall, were not inflated due to steroid use, and the home run production slightly increased from the previous era at a moderate pace.  In addition, another baseball milestone was set when Ty Cobbs long standing career hits record of 4,191 was broken in 1985 by Pete Rose.

Listed below are the greatest hitters from era 6.

This list includes the top 3 hitting catchers, the top 3 hitting first baseman, the top 3 hitting second baseman, the top 3 hitting third baseman, the top 3 hitting short stops and the top 10 hitting outfielders.
